There’s a new, fully legal, online poker platform operating in the U.S.
It’s Clubs Poker and it’s growing rapidly. Full disclosure, I’m a marketing affiliate for Clubs Poker – use this link.
Clubs Poker uses a sweepstakes business model, which is legal in 45 U.S. states (the only exceptions are ID, MI, MT, NV, and WA). All play is directly through your web browser or mobile browser—there’s no app to download.
The SWEEPSTAKES MODEL makes it legal. Here’s how that works (you’ll get used to it very quickly):
There are two types currency, which the site calls “virtual tokens” or simply “coins.” Gold Coins are strictly for fun, whereas Sweeps Coins (i.e., “Sweepstakes”) won on the site can be redeemed for prizes, including cash, with cash payouts handled through U.S. banks.
The cash prize redemption rate is $1.00 for 1 Sweeps Coin. (wink!)
For this model to operate legally, Clubs Poker cannot sell you any Sweeps Coins directly. The primary way to acquire Sweeps Coins is to purchase Gold Coins, whereupon Clubs Poker can offer you some free Sweeps Coins as a bonus. (wink!)
All coin purchases are made using major credit cards with transactions directly through Clubs Poker’s U.S. based bank.
When I join, I purchased 1,575,000 Gold Coins for $300, and received 310 free Sweeps Coins as a “bonus.” Given the cash prize redemption rate of $1.00 per SC, that’s a darned good deal.

In addition, Clubs Poker is currently (updated Feb-2025) offering a daily login bonus of 0.5 SC. SC may also be won in freeroll tournaments.
The only catch is that you cannot redeem for a cash prize any SC received via these bonuses. You can, however, redeem any SC that you have won playing poker. As a ring games player, I wagered the SC received as a bonus. Each pot I won gave me some new SC that immediately became eligible for redemption. It didn’t take long at all to convert my entire balance to SC that are redeemable for a cash prize (remember, it’s $1.00 per SC… wink!).
All payouts are handled through the same U.S. based bank.
It’s a great setup for recreationally oriented players. Here’s the signup link again.
